2022 Lincoln Aviator vs. 2022 Audi Q8

Coming with a muscular V6 engine, the 2022 Lincoln Aviator deserves to be in the top of the luxury midsize SUV class. This has the cushy ride quality that you are looking for plus is made of an opulent interior, which speaks bounds about its classiness.

Just like the Aviator, the 2022 Audi Q8 does not have any major changes when compared to its predecessor. It promises a powerful engine lineup, and most intuitive technologies. It has a spacious cabin as well.

Design & Style

Having the same structure as that of the Ford Explorer, the 2022 Lincoln Aviator combines the elegant modern aesthetics top a classic styling. It has soft-touch surfaces all around, with properly upholstered surfaces that are highlighted by wood and chrome accents. It has excellent build quality and it is fitted with a powerlift gate as a standard. The cargo area expands to hold up to 77.77 of space when the second and third rows are not in use and are folded. Sitting up to seven people, there is an option to go for the six-seat configuration.

The 2022 Audi Q8 looks sophisticated with its soft-touch surfaces. Aside from using leather upholstery, this one highlights cabin panels with aluminum, which is a bit more traditional than the chrome and wood accents in the Aviator. This one can only sit five passengers, both rows spacious with plenty of room to spare. Cabin space only expands to 60.7 cubic feet.

Technology & Safety

Using the SYNC 3 infotainment interface, the 2022 version of the Aviator is gifted with a 10.1-inch touch screen display. This one is easily operable, displays crisp graphics and is just within reach. You will find audio and climate controls at the center stack, adding up to its user-friendliness as a whole. Other technologies embodied in the ride are Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, and Android Auto, as well as 10 speakers, a Wi-Fi hot spot, four USB ports, Bluetooth connectivity, and satellite radio. Safety wise, it has a long list to offer including forward collision warning, front and rear parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, pedestrian detection, and rear cross traffic alert, among others.

In the case of the Q8, it has the same touch screen setup, but has added an 8,6-inch touch screen below that plus a 12.3 digital gauge cluster. Looking sleek, it has some problems though. The lower touch screen is just distracting, considering that it is not as intuitive as the main touch screen the car has. It offers all the other technologies found in the Aviator, except that it only has two USB ports, and missing on Amazon Alexa. It does not have pedestrian detection for safety.

Performance

Configured with a V6 engine, the twin-turbocharged setup under the hood of the Lincoln Aviator produces up to 400 horsepower. The plug-in version that combines a lithium-ion battery pack with the basic setup engages up to 494 horsepower.

The turbocharged V6 engine in the Q8 only reaches up to 335 horsepower, although there is a V8 version that targets 500 horsepower.

The Bottom Line

The Lincoln Aviator and Audi Q8 may have some similarities, but differs in a lot of things. The Q8 misses on features that the Aviator offers. This makes the Lincoln better over its Audi counterpart.
