2022 Lincoln Aviator vs. 2022 Cadillac XT5

Ranking high with its opulent interior, and its swift V6 engine, the 2022 Lincoln Aviator definitely deserves its top ranking among luxury midsize SUVs. It offers a reliable set of technologies that you will truly love, plus it is praised even more for the comfort that it brings to its seven passengers.

That of the 2022 Cadillac XT5 is rated high in terms of mileage. Inside it, you will find a spacious cabin space too. Just like the Aviator, the car manufacturer decided not to include any major changes when compared to the 2021 version.

Design & Style

Getting a great build, and solidly constructed all throughout, the 2022 Lincoln Aviator is gifted with a different blend of aesthetics that is pleasing to the eye. Those soft-touch plastics are given a high rating, and makes it a great combo with its well-upholstered seats, highlighted by chrome and wood accents. Overall, the ride is excellent in terms of design and style, spacious enough until its cargo area.

In the case of the XT5, expect a well-built body as well, but when you get inside it, you will notice that it does not really impress. It lacks the opulence offered by the Aviator. Add to that, it can only sit five passengers, in contrast with the Lincoln's seven-seating configuration. Taller passengers will wish there is plenty of room at the second row.

Technology & Safety

Carrying a highly-intuitive 10.1-inch touch screen, you can clearly see the graphics displayed in the SYNC 3 infotainment system for the Lincoln Aviator. The ride also provides user-friendly tools that gives better access to its other technologies, like the 10 speakers, four USB ports, Bluetooth connectivity, satellite radio, and Wi-Fi hot spot. Add to that, it flawlessly integrates Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, and Android Auto as well. Safety wise, its long list includes the MyKey feature for secondary drivers, forward collision warning, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, and automatic emergency braking.

Using an eight-inch touch screen, the XT5 uses only a rotary controller. This carries a wireless version for smartphone integration but lacks tools for Amazon Alexa. It only has eight speakers. This carries a Teen Driver feature, which works similarly to the MyKey feature in the Aviator. Other safety aids are found in the Lincoln too, but it lacks some assistance features that the latter has, including automatic emergency braking, and forward collision warning.

Performance

With two engine varieties provided depending on the model that you want to purchase, the Lincoln Aviator registers 400 horsepower for the base twin-turbo V6 engine, and 494 horsepower for its plug-in version.

Its V6 counterpart in the XT5 can only yield up to 310 horsepower, and its base engine (a turbo-four) hits marks of only up to 235 horsepower.

The Bottom Line

The 2022 Lincoln Aviator is far better in terms of technologies and styling when compared to that of the 2022 Cadillac XT5. It also has more powerful engines for drivers to choose from. These things make it a winner.
