How To Change Lincoln Windshield Wipers

Windshield wipers have become essential to driver safety, but they're not meant to last forever. If your wipers are starting to wear out or fail, it's necessary to know how to replace them to avoid costly repair bills.

Test Your Wipers

You can lift or roll down the windshield wiper arm when it's in the parked position. You will pull a bar from underneath your car and lift the wiper arm by hand. If you want to lower your wipers back down, push them over so perpendicular to their starting position. Then release them; they should stay put on their own.

Locate the Wiper

Open your car hood. Disconnect the leads by hand using a flathead screwdriver or similar tool. Do not use a wrench. Remove the bolt, nut, or clip that secures the wiper arm to the pivot shaft. Use a wrench to remove the bolt, nut, or clip. You can use a pair of pliers if you don't have a wrench.

Take out the Wiper and Replace

Lift the arm away from the car, then slide out the wiper blade assembly. Insert your new wiper blade assembly back into place and align it with holes in your windshield.Tighten as necessary.Ensure the wiper is working correctly by testing all wipers at low, medium, and high speeds.

Reconnect The Parts

Now that you've replaced the blades, it's time to reconnect all the removed parts. If a screw or bolt needs to be tightened, do so now. Keep in mind that some screws should be tightened enough to keep them from falling out on their own and not so much that they are difficult to remove later if necessary (e.g., when servicing other components). In addition, make sure that everything is connected firmly and securely before lowering and closing your vehicle's hood.

Test Your New Wipers

Test all wipers at all speeds to make sure they're working correctly. You can test all your wipers at low, medium, and high rates to ensure they're working correctly. For the best results:

  • Have the car off and parked on a level surface.
  • Check that the wiper arm is resting—you'll know if it's not when you can't see water on your windshield because the components are scraping against it.
  • Turn on all three of your front wipers at full blast to clear off any dirt or debris from them.

Easy Swaps

Knowing how to change your car windshield wipers is an invaluable skill that will save you money in the long run. Knowing where the wiper blades are located and how they work, and maybe even changing them yourself when needed, will ensure that no one has access inside your engine compartment unless they’re authorized by law (and this includes mechanics). The key is ensuring everything is working correctly before heading out for long journeys or inclement weather conditions like heavy snowstorms or hurricanes!
